Tiny Maple refers to the size of the painting. The maple tree itself, on the edge of the property at the Gruppe Gallery in Jericho Vermont, is quite large. The challenge for this painting was to paint it very small. At 4" x 4" in size this is the smallest I have ever painted. I have found small paintings to be a fun challenge and even though they may be diminutive in size, when framed that actually have a presence much larger than you might expect.
This is one of a series of little gems I hope to make available this year. We'll see how well they are received and may become a permanent part of my repertoire.
