One of the first in the artist's Florida Beach-Surf Series begun in 1989, most of which were painted at Indialantic beach utilizing fast-drying alkyd oil paint on small 8x10-inch hardboard panels to facilitate handling. The artist regarded these paintings as exercises in painting the difficult subject of moving water. Most of them were early morning paintings, some at sunrise, some at dusk and at least one is at night with a moon rising. There are about two dozen paintings in this series.
