The Chistochena River is east of Glennallen and flows south into the Copper River. This is the view at break-up of winter ice. The artist camped at this site for three days working on this painting of break-up, and one additional painting of the campfire. Painted in fast-drying alkyd oil paint, to facilitate handling while on this road trip north up the Alaska-Canada Highway. Thus: The AlCan Series.
