“The Last Battle serves as a visual representation of my experience collaborating
with veterans as part of an art residency program at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans
Home in Hot Springs, SD. Learning about their bravery, service, and patriotism made my time
working with them truly remarkable. A particular conversation with a WW2 veteran, who despite
being physically fragile, had a profound impact on me, leaving an indelible mark on my memory. I
strive to honor their memory through my artwork.”
