“(In 2021 we marked) 80 years since the United States entered into World War II, and this painting is to honor the memory of Joe Foss from South Dakota, one of the greatest heroes who fought in Guadalcanal in the South Pacific. For his heroic service in the war, Joe received the Medal of Honor by the President. I wrote and illustrated a graphic novel in 2022 about him titled American Hero, Joe Foss that won a Spur Award from the Western Writers of America.”
