Contemplation by Jon Crane Image: “This is the eighth painting that I have done of the Meeker Ranch near Custer. The ranch is the last remaining Black Hills ranch on public land. In 2007 I discovered that it was scheduled to be burned that winter by the Forest Service because they lacked the funds to take care of it. With the help of many people, we were able to save it and formed the Black Hills Historic Preservation Trust to preserve this and other buildings on public land.”
