“An enjoyable part of my career is gathering the reference material out at real working ranches and wildlife areas. I want to capture the Western way of life, to paint and portray the real thing. Bison once freely roamed the Great Plains of North America. In 1905 the American Bison Society was formed with Theodore Roosevelt as honorary president. Roosevelt persuaded Congress to establish several wildlife preserves. The bison, more than any other animal, is a unique symbol of the strength of the people of North America.”

As a child, Kathy Sigle recalls sitting as her mother’s portrait model while she learned from a master while the family lived in Argentina for a short time. Years later and back in the Midwest, Kathy sat side by side with her mother, learning watercolor techniques. Enjoying the versatility of watercolor, Kathy produces a life-like depth in her work by layering extremely thin glazes. Kathy has been a signature member of the Northern Plains Watercolor Society and the Artists of the Black Hills.
