Searching for a story after hearing a presentation and demo by Kathie Odom, I decided to apply some of her design concepts and strategies to a plein air work. I found one on the Oconoluftee River after seeing the old building called Drama Inn across the river from where I was painting. I loved the beautiful mountains in the background and felt the red roof top balanced the composition nicely. It felt so nostalgic painting this scene and I know it may bring those memories to surface for those who view it.
