An hour east of Saskatoon in the small town of Bruno this old firehall and jailhouse can be found on the town’s Main Street. The firehall was built in 1917 and has been designated a heritage site. My history with the firehall goes back about 20 years when I began attending quilt workshops and retreats at the Ursuline Convent also located in Bruno. I fell in love with the little building and the town the very first time I saw it. After visiting Bruno again recently, I resolved to paint it. The street musicians just seemed like an appropriate addition to the scene, so I added them.
