There is a home directly behind Grace Westminster Church where I paint every Monday, that had the most wonderful patch of sunflowers growing in the back lane. I’m a regular at the coffee shop down the block from the church and caught sight of the sunflowers on my way for a refill this past October. I loved the graceful bend of the heavy seed heads and the way the noontime sun cast its shadows over them. I usually have my camera close by and managed to get some great shots of them. I was really glad I was able to get the reference photos when I did because the owner of the home had cleared them all out by the time I walked by the following week.
