Drawing inspiration from the intricate activities within a honeybee hive, 'Waggy Dance' was printed through a series of detailed printing techniques. The initial step involved etching bees and floral elements into a 9 x 12 plexiglass plate, and then running it through the #openpressproject mini-press. Following this, an 11 x 15 plate with chine collé was used, featuring Japanese yellow paper laid over Akua green ink. The third layer comprised an intaglio print of the bees, and the piece was finalized with pen and ink to detail the bees' wings. The print reflects the honey bee's remarkable 'waggle dance,' a method of communication that conveys vital information about the location of nectar and pollen sources.
