Created during a workshop in California’s Central Valley, the Artisan Narrative series explores accumulation, labor, and quiet transformation through layered mixed media surfaces. Fields of gold and ochre are built gradually through collage, drawing, and intaglio etching, allowing traces of earlier marks to remain visible beneath the surface.
Bees, etched into plexiglass and embedded within the composition, reference patience, repetition, and collective effort — their hive-building echoing the slow construction of the work itself. Shifts in tone, erosion, and material buildup create a sense of time passing, where structure and fragility coexist. Together, the three pieces reflect on process, persistence, and the subtle rhythms that emerge through sustained making.
