Created during a session at Piramidal Gráfica in Guanajuato, this print grew out of a mix of monotype and collagraph techniques using Akua’s water-based inks. The layered surfaces carry the feel of aged linen—bandages slowly giving way, their structure thinning and unraveling.
A column of warm ochres anchors the right side, threaded with a wavering black line that slips through the surface like a trail of tiny insects. That line was made the slow way—by rolling a golf ball across the plate to coax out those unpredictable, fuzzy marks. On the left, pale impressions echo the gradual breakdown of cloth, softening into ghost shapes that seem to fade as you look at them.
What I enjoy most in this piece is the tension between structure and decay—how the print feels like it’s holding together and falling apart at the same time.
