Stone Conversation draws from shifting yellow and ochre light across the mountain landscape at Cortijo el Moro in Andalucía, where changing sunlight activates mineral surfaces and erosion shapes both form and atmosphere. I began with gestural charcoal marks responding to the contours of stone, then built layered fields of yellow ochre, zinc white, and violet to establish rhythm and contrast.
Golden tones act as the compositional core, suggesting heat, mineral presence, and the quiet radiance of sunlit rock. The work explores a dialogue between solidity and change, where structure dissolves into atmosphere and surface becomes a record of time, pressure, and transformation. This piece is part of a two-work series examining how landscape imprints itself through color, gesture, and accumulation.
