My Process
This series began with loose charcoal sketches of jellyfish, drawn to capture their soft, drifting forms. Each drawing was placed face-down on a Gelli plate and transferred by rubbing the back of the paper—a simple, unpredictable process that introduced subtle breaks and shifts in the image.
The transferred lines were printed using acrylic paint in a reddish palette I rarely use. This color choice emphasizes the jellyfish’s natural rhythm: bodies contracting and releasing in slow pulses, gently pushing against the water. The layered reds suggest movement, pressure, and quiet propulsion.
