My artistic journey with this captivating monotype mixed media was skillfully created through a fusion of etching the sea urchin illustration and collage techniques. Initiated on a 2.75 x 8-inch plexiglass plate, the journey unfolded through my mini printing press (#openpressproject).
Delicately executed on Japanese rice paper, each print breathes life into the underwater realm. Using Akua inks, I meticulously produced 20-30 individual prints, layering them to evoke the dance of sea urchins navigating the depths.
To infuse dynamic movement, the final touch was precise pointillism marks. These subtle yet impactful details enhance the visual narrative, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the rhythmic flow of the underwater world. This mixed media piece is a testament to the convergence of technique, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the wonders beneath the waves.
