" As you look at my work you will notice the contrast of colors, texture and light. I start with many layers which I continually dig into to reveal the hidden colors underneath. The gold, silver or rose gold leaf bring a reflection of light to the surface, in contrast to the rough texture of the cold wax and oil. I also use words on paper which brings a consistency to the abstract nature of my work.
The duality of life has always interested me, as you can see in the duality of my work. Even though many of the suggested shadows of images are from nature, my digging in the paint and color, are really from the heart of the child within me. In my work I hope to capture something beyond this world, an essence that leaves you feeling more at peace, words that comfort in the midst of chaos. Although we live many times in a world that seems devoid of hope, I try to capture in my artwork the beauty of the divine.
I have been an artist most of my life and attended both the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, and then, Alfred University in New York, where I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Painting. I have also been an 'Artist In Residence' for the Oxbow School of Art, within the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, in Saugatuck, Michigan. I currently have my Art Studio in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and reside there with my supportive husband and precious daughter. You will find my work in galleries and art fairs throughout the region."
