Located at the airport entrance, this work consists of two eagle signs that welcome all visitors. Originally located at the 1952 airport, the eagles were relocated to the new terminal in 1991 to preserve the history of the Pittsburgh International Airport.
These two sculptures flank either side of the entrance into PIT. They are nearly identical. The base for these eagles is a slightly elongated square shape, made of a black stone with the words “Allegheny County Airport Authority” written in the center. On top of this is a large circular piece, which is outlined in a light silver and filled in with a darker gray color. The eagle is situated within this circle and above the words “Pittsburgh International Airport.” The eagle faces one side, holds arrows in one hand and a feather in the other, and is seen with a colored crest atop of its chest.
