Free the Music PGH is an initiative founded by Hudson Colletti, a Pittsburgh musician who envisions public pianos throughout Pittsburgh to foster human connection through music, with the potential to break down the barriers between us.
An abstract work by Scott Kowalski, this piano is made to represent the abstract idea of visual music. His process behind the creation of this piece can be described as a “jazz approach where little pieces of color that might look like chaos to some would be depth and layers upon layers to build the fabric of the song.”
This piano is primarily pink, with strong yellow coming through as an accent color. Blues, reds, whites, and greens work to add complexity and pattern to the piano. The result is a beautiful abstract piece, with bold shapes and gestural lines.
