This piece is truly an ORANGEinal creation, sparked by my desire to draw sunglasses, which evolved into sketching a stylish pair featured in this artwork. The concept began with me envisioning the perfect shades, and from there, the idea blossomed into something more. Executed on Copic paper using Micron pens and Copic markers, the subject came to life with intricate detail and vibrant colors.
To complement the sunglasses, I decided to incorporate a sun motif into the composition. Using another sheet of paper, I meticulously drew a 'perfect' circle to represent the sun, cutting it out in the same wavy style as the glasses. Interestingly, one of my TikTok videos showcasing the process of drawing and coloring the sun became unexpectedly popular, garnering ongoing interactions and engagement [linked].
For the backdrop, I chose a 12 x 12 scrapbook wallpaper, carefully adhering it to the canvas to create a visually striking setting. With the wallpaper securely in place and the paper pieces sealed for protection, I arranged and affixed them onto the canvas, starting with the sun and then layering the subject on top, ensuring every detail was perfectly positioned.
Once everything was in place, I applied another layer of sealant to preserve the integrity of the artwork. After allowing sufficient time for the sealant to dry completely, typically a day or so later, I mixed resin with a subtle glitter to add a touch of sparkle to the piece. Pouring the resin mixture evenly over the artwork, I ensured it dried flat, resulting in a smooth and glossy finish.
After 48 hours, the SunSetter was finally complete, a testament to creativity and meticulous craftsmanship. It's a vibrant and dynamic piece that captures the essence of a summer day, inviting viewers to bask in its warm and radiant glow.
