"Rainbow" holds a special place in my journey as an artist, marking one of my early forays into mixed media expression. Before I discovered the transformative power of resin as a sealing agent, I relied on a clear sealant as the final touch for my pieces. While this method still yielded satisfactory results, it was the beginning of my experimentation with different techniques and materials.
The inspiration for "Rainbow" struck me unexpectedly while browsing through Pinterest, where I stumbled upon a captivating photo posted by a user named @pauloeue, if memory serves me right. The vibrant colors and dynamic energy exuded by the subject in the photo left a lasting impression on me, igniting a creative spark that I knew I had to capture in my own artwork.
To bring my vision to life, I chose a 12x12 wooden canvas as the foundation for the piece and adorned it with a background crafted from scrapbook wallpaper. This served as the perfect backdrop to showcase the central figure, whom I meticulously rendered on Copic paper using Copic markers and micron pens. Every detail, from her stylish glasses frames to her intricate earrings, was carefully delineated and accentuated with touches of gold ink, adding an extra layer of refinement and elegance.
Once the figure was complete, I sealed her onto the wallpaper background, allowing the layers to meld together seamlessly. After a painstaking 48-hour drying period, "Rainbow" was ready to make its debut. It accompanied me on a journey to New York, where it took center stage at my very first art show in the states.
The experience of showcasing "Rainbow" and witnessing its eventual sale was nothing short of exhilarating—a milestone moment that I will forever cherish in my artistic career. It reinforced my passion for creating art that resonates with others and reminded me of the boundless possibilities that await when we dare to explore and push the boundaries of our creativity.
