In 2014 when I turned 60 on January 1st, I had the bright idea that I would do a journal quilt once a week. I made it through 10 weeks and then dropped the project. Now that I am in the last year of my 60’s, I am determined to complete the project or at least add to it. I named the series “In the Moment in My Sixties”. Each quilt represents what was on my mind the day I made it.
On the day I made “In the Moment in My Sixties #3”, I was focused on gratitude. I have a wonderful life, and I try to practice gratitude everyday.
This quilt reflects that I am grateful I was able to send India to the University of Pittsburgh. I am grateful for ,my books, a full time job, family and being me. Most of all I am grateful for my quilt studio which I call Paradise. The words are hand written on the quilt.
The quilt is embellished with charms, buttons and words. I signed and dated it on the front.
The back of the quilt is a teal and purple batik. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.
