In 2014 when I turned 60 on January 1st, I had the bright idea that I would do a journal quilt once a week. I made it through 10 weeks and then dropped the project. Now that I am in the last year of my 60’s, I am determined to complete the project or at least add to it. I named the series “In the Moment in My Sixties”. Each quilt represents what was on my mind the day I made it.
“In the Moment in My Sixties #1” captures the surprise birthday party India planned and produced for me. She knows I hate surprises, but she did it anyway. She did to me when she was 12 so she was experienced at surprising me. The hand written words on the quilt say “India, What have you done?”
The quilt is embellished with charms, buttons and words. I signed and dated it on the front.
The back of the quilt is a blue African print. There is a hanging sleeve on the back for easy display and a label that documents the quilt.
