Part of the Ollin Yoliztli Calaca Series. Masks created over the duration of 3-4 years. While creating this collection, the artist developed and perfected his own style of painting for the calaca masks.
Ollin Yoliztli is a Phoenix based dance group that performs traditional Mexican Folklore dances. Cultural Coalition has partnered with them for decades, educating the public and keeping Mexican traditions alive within the community.
Mask base painted in off-white. Primary color scheme painted in pink and green, with blue and purple secondary colors. Green and pink swirly lines on the forehead, cheeks, and chin. Eyebrows painted in blue with purple underneath. Purple nose tip and dot on the center of the forehead. Outer border of teeth outlined in pink, inner border outlined in red.
