The ribbed mussels are visible at low tide in many areas. At first glance, they are not the most attractive shells but when they start to breakdown, you can see all the layers, many of which are a purpliest in hue. This day the light was amazing, lighting up the seaweed behind the shell and creating dramatic highlights and shadows.
