For the 2025 Long Beach Island Plein Air Event, I chose to follow a single thread of inspiration—the marshes of the island. Each painting reflects a different mood of these wetlands, shifting with the hour of the day and the rhythm of the tides. This particular work was created at the LBI Art and Science Foundation’s nature reserve.
In the late afternoon, when one faces east, the marshlands are transformed. A golden radiance spills across the grasses, igniting them with warmth as though the earth itself were glowing from within. It is a fleeting enchantment—just moments before the sun slips away—but in that brief interval, the light feels eternal, a luminous embrace you wish would linger forever.
