For the 2025 Long Beach Island Plein Air Event, I chose to follow a single thread of inspiration—the marshes of the island. Each painting reflects a different mood of these wetlands, shifting with the hour of the day and the rhythm of the tides. This particular
work is more conceptional based on spending many hours photographing various marshes. The LBI Foundation marshes are home to many birds and other wildlife.
Incorporated into this painting are the following birds and wildlife - Red Winged Blackbird, Egret, Blue Heron, Oyster Catchers, Sanderlings, Piping Plovers, Green Heron, Snowy Egret, Lesser Yellow Legs, muskrat, and turtle.
