Without Title 1

This drawing is part of a series, "Without Title," that was inspired by my interest in the place names indigenous people gave their land. Almost invariably these names described features of landscape unlike the names later imposed by colonial invaders. The drawing has been in the flatfiles at the Kentler International Drawing Space(Brooklyn, NY), and was removed and framed for my large scale exhibition, "Under the Same Sun: Democratic Spaces," in the Main Gallery, index Art Center, Newark, NJ, Sept-Oct, 2017.
