The piercing, expressive eyes of the Chemehuevi Child filled me with a range of empathetic emotions. His eyes appeared to belong to a much older child, living during tumultuous times. I couldn’t help but wonder what fate this adorable, innocent child faced. The Chemehuevi Child was photographed by Edward Curtis circa1903.
