Solitude (Summer’s End) 13.5x21 Pastel Uart 400 Grit 8 Ply Board
In Solitude, at Summer’s End
Thoughts strolling in and out
Of days, recent past
Here at Cape Ann Shores
Bodysurfing
Beach glass searching
Ringing bell, serve frozen treats, dripping
Small, flavored puddles gather at my feet
Sidewalk stained
Until washed away by summer rain
Whiffle ball marathons
Homerun blasts
Opposite, bat
Approaching 900 for the year
Drinks from the hose
Ball card flips
Pink lotion
To calm ivy itch
Wondering,
When did girls
Start looking like that
Their wisps of hair, summer lit
Dancing to songs I’ve never heard
‘til now,
I want to dance too
Softened lips by grape ChapStick
A first kiss
Lit by fireflies
A call comes ‘cross the yard
One last touch of fingertips
She turns, fades into night
I’ll not sleep much, I know
Summer Love is like that
Now upon September’s cusp
In setting sun and winds that shift
Soon wrapped in winter’s chill
Or days I’ve not yet met
Go back I will
To stone, where I was set
To be once more
In solitude, At Summer’s End
