Summer Lingers 14 x 21 pastel on Uart 400 Grit 8 Ply Board
The soft gurgle of water gliding past, lifting the dock ever so slightly causing it to offer a muffled groan as it shifts from its long summer slumber. Footprints from waterlogged feet, children wrapped in towels, are etched deep into the pores of the wooden dock as parents attempt to dry their hair while heading to the parking lot. Chatter of where to enjoy an evening’s feast is mingled with laughter in the late day summer heat while dragon flies cavort nearby. A slight breeze kicks up and boats resting upon the incoming tide begin to sway to a symphony now playing through the grass and trees. Even now, in deepest winter’s keep or days of little sleep, I close my eyes and open my heart to bring me back to that special place, where summer lingers.
