The Sea’s Eternal Thrall 14 x 21 Pastel Uart 400 Grit 8 Ply Board
The dictionary defines the word “Thrall” as being in the power of someone, their captive. The title of this piece is taken from a line in a poem by Sara Teasdale called “Sea Longing.” I too long for the sea, where its windy waves mount up, curve and fall; I too am its captive. There is something special about going down to the sea, to witness its power, its life force. It is woman, it is man, it is desire, it is life! Its mystical and hypnotic spirit leaves me spent, gasping, breathless, always wanting and begging for more; it is…love!
