Lupines & Sand Coreopsis (Old Exit 21 / Rte. 128 N) 6x8 Pastel Uart 400 Grit 8 Ply Board – En Plein Air
I came upon this scene while taking my aunt into Boston for her doctor’s appointment. I am sure people heading to and from Gloucester each day along old Rte. 128 in Massachusetts barely notice the colors that are awash along the road at Old Exit 21. Nature’s beauty is but a blip in the haste they call life. And yet, by failing to notice, can they really call what they are doing: living? Nature is finite; the flowers that come after April rains, are not still vibrant and blooming in November. They are here but a short period. Yes, they come back each year in the same radiant splendor; but what if one year they should decide we are not worthy? Why do we take our mother for granted? And yet, like any loving Mother for her children, she merely moves along without fanfare, gratitude, no matter how bad we’ve been, she’s always ready to share the beauty of her heart, always welcoming us to her home, our home, we need only to reach out and allow ourselves to feel the embrace of her loving arms.
