Roses at Coastal Botanical Gardens (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) En Plein Air 8 x 10 Pastel
UArt 400 Grit Dark 8 Ply Board
On Saturday the unruly weather held off long enough for Signature Artist Members of the Pastel Society of Maine to work En Plein Air at the Coastal Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor, Maine as part of a one-day event of painting, classes for adults and children and an artist reception in celebration of the pastel medium and the two plus month exhibit of Signature Member paintings at the Education Center of the Gardens (runs through July 15, 2022).
This is the piece I created. I call it my angry painting of roses! Why angry!? I started this and after about an hour of painting, was not happy with the results and washed down all the flowers, removed some and moved others and started again. Then came stage two, as I built up the flowers, I once again became frustrated and unhappy with the results and what I was producing and so, I said to myself “Time to paint angry!” This is the result of my angry painting in pastel.
