From the top of La Samaritaine, near Pont Neuf, one sees this view and yes, the sculpture is gold leaf. The viewer is led into the composition by the green dome and its lovely architectural detail, then it goes to the gold leaf statue and finally you are led to the buildings in the background which I decreased in value for atmospheric perspective.
