The area between Gibsons and Wilson Creek here on the Sunshine Coast is called Roberts Creek. The Gumboot is their "regional" crest. The residents have long maintained a dedication to "separateness" and enjoy the pristine beauty of stony beaches, miles of rocky shoreline and acres of deep rainforest. From hippies to hermits, millionaires to homesteaders...it is a haven of independence.

This little church remains standing on the main road leading down into the Creek central. Part of the original community, of loggers, fishermen, farmers and families that cleared the land and settled there - served since 1889 by a steamship dock that delivered mail, cargo and passengers from Vancouver.

The main church in Gibsons Landing was St Barts 1892 and the small St Aidan's church and community hall was built in 1936.
Sadly no longer serving the community - as it needs so much repair and development to bring it up to present day standards. Too many rocks I'm told.
(hence the rocks feature in the foreground and the massive mossy boulder aside)

I look forward to doing a taller version of this view - to highlight the deep forest and include the tiny steeple that still stands against the elements.
