Driving down Highway 1 in California, I stopped near Santa Cruz to do this plein air sketch. Completely by myself, I enjoyed listening to the crashing of waves and the calls of wildlife as I quickly painted the coast before the light changed. I was intrigued by the brilliant morning light, causing the water to glitter, and I loved how the coastal mist pushed the far cliffs into the distance.
This painting was created on a premium gesso panel made by Jack Richeson & Co. and painted with professional oil paints. It has also been sealed with a layer of Gamsol varnish to protect and enhance the oil paint. This artwork is shipped unframed.
