Birdwatchers sometimes have just one bird to entertain them. A Caracara in a field; a Shrike on a tree branch; a Heron stalking prey in a pond. But watching on the beach, there's usually a group of birds to watch and search through to single out the one you like.
The way I birdwatch is I search for the bird in the group with personality, like seeing the trees rather than the forest.
One day I spotted these birds, surrounded by other birdly activity. To their left were foraging shorebirds, to the right some were walking, scrapping with each other, and scattering in flight. But these few stood out, and I snapped a photo.
Simple, and peaceful.
Gentle waves lapping on shore. One bird standing guard while three birds napped and one hunted for food.
Standing Guard is offered at $550 plus tax and shipping.
