"Redemptive Surge" is one in a series of paintings featuring lots of red. Red in Christianity usually suggests the blood of Christ, a symbol of redemption. For most people it could mean intensity, emotion, fiery passion, a sense of urgency. For me, red speaks of transformation.

In "Redemptive Surge" I thought about how a transformative moment, maybe like the instant you realized you were in love, can affect you. In my case, that moment of new love changed everything in my life, my circumstances, my dreams, my plans, my thoughts, hopes, and even fears. That moment reached in every direction and infiltrated every part of my life. Not only that but it also filled my future with mystery, wonder, and excitement. It was redemption in more ways than I could ever imagine that pulled me from one life into an entirely new one. It was a moment that changed everything.
