The artist represents his interpretation of a old monochrome oil painting he acquired, "Moonlit Schooners At Sea", c.1880, attributed to August Löhr. The sea is choppy with whitecaps, water blues and greens, the sky cloudy with approaching storm, sun covered as three sailing schooners race an oncoming storm. The frame is a modern wood frame in the simplest of Victorian styles, gilded gold finish.
