The artist represents his interpretation of a old monochrome oil painting he acquired, "Moonlit Schooners At Sea", c.1880, attributed to August Löhr. Burnt umber and cremnitz white are the only pigments used, as was the case in the Löhr version. The frame is a modern composite in the simplest of Baroque styles, antiqued bronze finish.
