30days30sunrises

Painted in the plein air fashion, every morning in September, rain or shine, capturing that moment of sunrise over Lake Michigan from Promontory Point on Chicago's Southside. The scene was lovely, as were all the runners, open water swimmers, dog walkers, and bicyclists who shared the experience of daybreak.

EMERGENCE

The Emergence Series explores how beauty and elegance are magically emergent from disorder and chaos. This is not only evident on the surface of the vibrant oil pigments, but also implied with a simple line drawing AR (augmented reality) component which can be seen through one’s hand held device.

Excellent Birds: EXTINCT

Inspired by the illustrations of Audobon, these oil paintings represent extraordinary avian creatures which met their demise at the hands of human influence.

Peaceable Coexistence

A series of oil portraits of livestock and domestic fowl inspired by the painting The Peaceable Kingdom by Edward Hicks, with a nod to the hyperbolic style of 18th century Manor House agricultural art.

People Doing People Stuff

Vibrant colors bring the figures to life in urban settings. The titles say it all: The Fellas On The Bench, Dream BIG, The Sunrise Swimmers, mix figurative impressionism with metamodernism sensibilities.
