'Still Life on the Etching Press' is one of two reduction woodcuts that are interior scenes, both being artists' studios. This reduction woodcut is a still life, and as the title says, on an etching press. On the press bed of Don's American French Tool Etching Press is a large blue fish and a good-sized one-clawed lobster shell on a platter. Beneath the platter is a red Kilim. One can see the press's pressure caliber, the heavy steel roller, and on the far side of the press is the large hand wheel that moves the press bed under the steel roller. In the background is a leaning fishing pole and a Springer Spaniel asleep on the parquet floor.
