Dianna Anderson
Dianna is energized by capturing the essence of light en plein air with oils expressing subtle color shifts creating interpretations of those ethereal moments.
MessageI painted 'Indian Point, Georgetown' on location in Maine the day after the 2019 Oil Painter's of America's Great American Paint Out. The spot is near the mouth of the Kennebec River and the entrance to Sagadahoc Bay is around the corner. I was trying to depict the soft light and subtle color changes. This inspired me to try a different way of painting. One without a preliminary drawing, block-in or use of thinner or medium. A more direct approach seemed like fun so I painted it free-style. Trying to be expressive, I used straight juicy oil paint to depict the soft light and subtle colors that danced before me.
