MessageWhen I visited the Botanical Garden in Naples, Florida and walked through the arbor covered with purple flowers, I knew I would paint it. Who does not love wisteria whether it is Florida's version named Queen's Wreath or the Northern variety? Several days later I returned, set up my easel and began to paint. It was a gorgeous morning and the light on my subject was very sublime. By 11:30 it was too hot to paint so I knew I would have to return to this location. After two location visits to the Naples Botanical Garden to finish the painting, I ended up adding the finishing details in the studio. I was hoping to make the painting inviting enough for the viewer to imagine walking through the arbor.
