I really like creating textures in my artwork. Here I worked with batiks, cut out small pieces to form the various parts of the bird’s body and feathers. It’s all sewn in a raw edge appliqué technique which as it says leaves the edges unfinished. I am quite pleased with the effect of the fabrics on the surface of the design.
