21st Century Modern

The Fusion of Technology and Craft in Textile Art

This artwork is a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and
modern technology. Graphic images, created using advanced digital
techniques, are printed on shiny white polyester fabric, which serves
as a luminous canvas. Machine stitching and hand embroidery are
applied to add highlights, creating a soft, quilted vision that draws
the eye and invites touch.

Each graphic image originates from a deeply personal source—whether
it's one of my photographs, an altered photo, my original artwork,
or a photograph of an altered artwork. This layered creative process
ensures that every piece carries a unique narrative using my own creativity.

The finished piece is elegantly framed in a minimalist white or black
metal frame with glass, elevating its presentation and preserving its delicate details.

This combination of technology, fabric, and craftsmanship transforms
the art into a modern yet timeless statement, offering the viewers a kind of multi-sensory experience.

Botanical Medallions

The Botanical Medallions have come about thanks to my childhood experience selling cut flowers in a market square with my Mother in the 50's and 60's. She was working for a florist and in the summer we would go early and load up a cart and walk to the market square. In those days it was very popular to buy not only flowers but potatoes, vegetables and strawberries for local vendors.
My love for flowers has not diminished and when the beautiful floral cotton fabrics came to the stores in the 80's and 90's, it was natural for me to start sewing beautiful things, including wall hangings.

Fabric Collage Art Quilts and Wall Hangings

To date I have created close to 300 art quilts using various sewing and assembly techniques.  I got interested in creating artistic designs using all kinds of fabrics, not just cottons. I then added textural elements as well as painting my own cotton muslin to use as backgrounds and main focus fabrics. It occurred to me that almost all kinds of fabrics can be used to create amazing designs.
The art pieces shown here are only a few and more will be added in the next few months.

Fantasy Figures

These Fantasy Figures and more will soon be featured in a children's book. It's a story about the Berry Beautiful and Happy Hippo and their friends going on various adventures in the garden, to the local shopping mall, including the Food Court which Happy Hippo is really excited about.
The books are in English and Swedish and will be featured here when ready for the public to purchase.

Patchwork

My patchwork art pieces tend to have more structured compositions than the collages. They are almost always sewn together from many pieces of fabric, sometimes small, sometimes larger pieces. My patchwork wall hangings do not usually include textural elements although lately I have been inspired to add new dimensions to these types of quilts.

Textures

Since I do a lot of crocheting and knitting I have many small flowers, ribbons, abstract pieces that I save in baskets for later use. One day I was inspired to just start joining all kinds of knit and crochet elements in all kinds of colors. Sometimes it was really natural how the pieces came to be next to each other, sometimes I had to take time to create a new piece to fit in a certain position. The designs are abstract and there was no plan for any of these pieces so it all came together very intuitively.
