My approach to painting is usually intuitive, a painted dialogue with the material rather than the execution of a pre-conceived plan. With this piece, I didn't set out to paint a storm; I simply surrendered to the gesture and the moment.

The large format allows to paint with the whole body, so the motif developed organically through movement. Only later and with some distance the work did reveal its true character: The sweeping motions in different shades of gray against the raw canvas carried the form and energy of a tornado, a visual representation of the calm before the storm.

The title, "YOU CAN FEEL IT COMING," was the natural response to this intense atmosphere that emerged on the canvas. The pink highlights were a spontaneous instinct to disrupt the nearly monochrome palette, adding a sharp, stylish pulse to the raw energy of the work.
