Splendor of Longing was inspired by the poem “A Prayer In Spring” by Robert Frost:
Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
This poem is so powerful that I wanted to capture that emotion and portray the feeling of the allure and impermanence of spring.
I created this abstract painting using archival-grade oil paint, gold leaf, and natural non-toxic solvent on luxuriously thick, inch and a half deep gallery wrapped canvas. The edges are painted, so the piece is ready to hang unframed.
