Grubb Street Productions, LCC. Color of the Cross cast Jesus as a non-white man, here played by Haitian-American writer/director Jean Claude La Marre. This is a retelling of the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion in a political and cultural setting that asserts that Jesus’ death was a racially motivated hate crime. Critical reception was poor because of its low budget and relatively amateur performances.
